My First

Border Control Agents are an extremely intelligent group of people, well trained in most countries to sniff out suspicious characters at the border and prevent criminals and generally dangerous people from getting through to cause harm or damage to their country. In most cases they are extremely successful, however like we know, no system is perfect and sometimes bad people slip through the cracks. In doing their job, they often come across as being a little too much depending on if you are on the receiving end, hence the various horror stories experienced all over the world by different people. In a way, their job teaches them to be suspicious of motives especially when there is some disconnect, and possible lies involved in the equation.

When I visit different countries, I am personally okay with being randomly selected for extra questioning, spot checks for drugs, fraud or just generally being searched at port of entries, with the caveat that the suspicion to put me through these extra checks are indeed random and not fed by racism or stereotypes, and your actions towards me are not disrespectful or unfair in any way.

I have learnt not to take the treatment personally as it is just border control agents trying to do their jobs and if I were one of them, I would do the same to someone else.
